Headings and titles

Use title case for headings and titles, capitalizing the first and last words, and all major words in between (e.g., “User Account Settings”).

Proper nouns

Capitalize proper nouns, including brand names, product names, and specific features (e.g., “ServiceTitan”, “QuickBooks Integration”).

Sentence case for body text

Use sentence case for body text, only capitalizing the first word of the sentence and proper nouns (e.g., “Click the save button to continue.”).

Acronyms and initialisms

Capitalize all letters in acronyms and initialisms (e.g., “API”, “URL”, “QBD”).

UI elements

Capitalize the names of specific buttons, tabs, and other UI elements (e.g., “Click the Save button”, “Navigate to the Reports tab”).

Avoid all caps

Avoid using all capital letters for emphasis, as it can be perceived as shouting and is harder to read (e.g., “DO NOT CLICK THIS BUTTON”).

Unnecessary capitalization

Avoid capitalizing common nouns and generic terms unless they are part of a title or heading (e.g., “Click the button to continue”, not “Click the Button to Continue”).

Inconsistent capitalization

Avoid inconsistent capitalization, which can confuse users and make text look unpolished.
